Niche player in quality market

Much like integrity and reliability have founded timber’s popularity as a construction material, the same qualities have developed Lumberworx’s reputation as a quality supplier of Engineered Wood Products.

Established in 2004 by Denis and Anne Morgan, the company quickly cemented itself as a niche player in the EWP sector.

Lumberworx is a Christchurch based business servicing the entire country, delivering:

  • Expertise to get it right the first time
  • Quality and safety
  • Flexibility to deliver exactly what is required
  • Responsiveness to customers’ needs.

At a time when all timber I-Beams and I-Joists available in New Zealand were imported from Australia, Lumberworx established a manufacturing facility in Christchurch, to produce I-Beams from 100% New Zealand-sourced materials.

A Message from Denis:

“My family background is in timber and construction, so I’ve always had that interest. I discovered engineered timber products were superior to standard timber because the defects are taken out of the wood, providing increased strength and durability, while using less natural timber in the process."

“We wanted to create a competitively priced I-Beam product, but more importantly, we wanted a product with superior performance and that’s exactly what engineered wood products represent. The additions to our range maintain that philosophy.”

After two years of prototyping and engineering, Lumberworx went to market with I-Beams, receiving BRANZ appraisal to meet the New Zealand Building Code.

The Lumberworx I-Beam was an instant success, and has since been joined by an ever increasing range of engineered structural products to meet the needs of customers up and down New Zealand.

Denis spent 20 years in aviation then the shellfish industry, before the family’s move into engineered wood products.

What’s the connection? Quality.
Seafood, aviation and structural products are all heavily regulated industries, and quality precedes success in all.
